By leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), the platform aims to automate common clinical workflows and streamline patient interactions, ultimately leading to enhanced personalized care and improved healthcare outcomes.

Problem Statement
Patient communication has been defined as a process where information is exchanged between a provider and patient through a standard system and it can be tricky to manage. Nevertheless, to ensure that clinical office work is working efficiently, healthcare centre must take the time to examine what the current situation is and identify any problems that are hindering or may hinder the business’ progress. According to an unofficial statistic, estimated 40 percent of clinical office work involves redundant tasks and wasted effort. Barriers to efficient workflows consist of poor usable design of technology for documentation and communications, resistance to change by providers and staff and inefficient communication and coordination.

Some physician practices still utilize paper-based workflows, which often are time-consuming and error-prone and offer limited security. Such inefficiencies also reduce productivity, negatively affect the bottom line and frustrate patients, staff and physicians.

In additional, such inefficiency will encompassed additional waste through overuse of services, although not necessarily intentionally, and a lack of interoperability and productivity, resulting in an output of more than hundreds of million ringgit annually. Even the use of paper forms costs the industry huge amount money every year. Besides, waste could be raised by absence or no-show of patient.

SmartMedik Modules
The SmartMedik project aims to automate healthcare communication processes to maximize patient outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and streamline clinical workflows while enhancing patient experiences. The platform consists of six major modules:

SmartMedik Module 1

Virtual Assistant
 

The Virtual Assistant module utilizes AI messaging features to power contextually relevant and natural interactions across digital channels. It assists patients in self-serving minor problems such as symptom checking, accessing medicine prescription information, and addressing queries. By leveraging AI, this module boosts patient satisfaction, fosters better engagement, increases patient confidence levels in the medical system, and ultimately achieves better outcomes.

SmartMedik Module 2

Patient Intake
 

The Patient Intake module leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline the check-in process, making it safer, smoother, and contactless. Through AI chatbots, the module captures necessary patient data, including mobile insurance uploads, patient history, authorizations, and chronic condition management, facilitating efficient and accurate intake procedures.

SmartMedik Module 3

e-Appointment
 

The e-Appointment module offers a self-serve appointment system where patients can conveniently pre-set their consultation appointments by selecting available slots in the system. Automated customized reminders are sent to patients ahead of appointments, ensuring optimal attendance. Moreover, the system automatically updates medical assistance or physicians when patients confirm or cancel appointments, streamlining appointment management processes.
